For ya'll that have 200+ gal tanks in your house, how did you get them in there? I have a 200 gal tank sitting in a garage, its still in there for a couple reasons. For one, it takes 4 fairly good strengthed men to move it, two it cant make a turn in my house. Just like to hear what ya'll did to get them in there!

    Thanks

Can you put it on it's end and wheel it in on a hand trolley?

What are the actually dimensions of the tank?

Yeah I'm with John. Try turning it on end and a dolly would be a real good idea. 4 guys trying to maneuver a heavy glass tank could get kinda scary. I would think its dimensions couldn't be much bigger than a large couch though. Let us know how it works out.

You could take out the window in the room if our that handy and the room has a double window. Now getting it back in calked and so on will be as much work as the tank. :)

I had to remove all the door jams that the tank had to go through. Then I put it on a dolly and pushed it in the lift to the stand took 5 people

It can be a pain can't it. As said before a dolly and several strong backs are your best bet.

BTW, Don't forget to reinforce the floor if you are not on a concrete pad.

    Good luck!

    thanks

Thanks guys, hadnt thought of a dolly before( seems like a lot of weight for a dolly). I do believe I am going to have to go through the window. I'll let everyone know if I get it in the house, if not I might have a tank for sale:-/

I wish I had your problem- I would love to wrestle an 200 gallon tank into my house- maybe if I'm a good boy I can have one for my birthday (probably not) !

There are furniture dollies that can handle some serious weight. They are basically a platform with four wheels that swivel. You get a one of those under each end of the tank and it should make things go smoother.

    200 gal tank

To make the picture clearer, I believe this tank is 84" long ( I dont know the other 2 side dimensions). It needs to get into the house, around his planted tank (shown in the CO2 thread a few days ago) into a hallway (36" wide per code) and into a room with a 80" header height on the door. The problem will be whether or not we can make the turn into the door and under the header without putting the other end through the sheetrock. Of course if its 24" x 24" then we will be able to use 4 people and pass it through the low window and directly into the room. Sounds like an order of fun with a side of back pain, but it will be worth it.
