Yes you need to bring up the magnesium to at least 1300, 1350 would be better, slowly. What salt mix are you using?

Very nice aquascaping. The corals selection is nice and colorful. Should really pop once they grow in and spread. Like the new zoas too BTW.

I have always used IO, recently tried IO Reef Crystals, not sure how I like the Reef Crystals yet but it does provide more magnesium.

For dosing I use Kent Part A/B and Kent Magnesium.

Thanks! (and thanks to the wife again)
I love it when the candy canes catch the flow and almost jiggle in the water. So pretty.

You think you dose less since the Reef Crystals? Your JBJ looks good tho.

I think its really time to upgrade the light. Thinking an LED DIY kit from RapidLed..

Yes I do dose less with Reef Crystals. I usually do not dose 2-3 before a water change with the Reef Crystals because I have learned it added more magnesium to the tank than I had anticipated. But my tank is small so my routine may not translate well over to other tanks and I have a lot of sps taking up the ca and decreasing the alk.

Congratz on no more diatoms! it's a good feeling when bad/annoying things clear up.
Tankscape looks great! Tell your wife I said so! :)

I would imagine. I have had success with 2 part (Kent) products but have since went to Sea-Lab #28 for Cal and Sea-Lab #14pH to maintain those parameters. I use Reef Builder to maintain Alk. I like what I'm doing now as the #28 is only added (cubes-blocks) as needed as they last a couple weeks usually (they only release as needed).

Cool, the leds are a good way to go, I think the DIY kits make more sense, both for price and flexibility. You'll have to let us know how it works out.

Also, yeah I hear ya, I do ok with aquascaping, but people with wives have an advantage I think. Must not be an aquascaping gene on the Y chromosome LOL.
