frustrated at my thingamabobs tank

well my girlfriend thingamabob has 3 tanks in her house the 90 gallon a 29 biocube and a 14 biocube. she has given me the honor of taking care of her 90 and 29 tanks. i get good equipment for it, well the best i can afford,in adition to my own stuff lol. but she wont let me touch her 14 bio cube.heres where i get frustrated, her 90 gallon tank has good filtration and i keep a moderate stock in it and i hit bumps in the road, now dealing with ick. but her 14 biocube has been running as a reef for a year n 8 months and its had 1 water change,stock everything, its over stocked only has about 11lbs of live rock and all she does it ttop up with dechlorinated tap water and feed them.this is a reef tank with beginner corals and way to many fish, 2 small snails and 1 hermit as a cuc. and her tank is doing awesome.she cleans the glass once a month if that. and the tank is doing awesome!!! i just dont get it. lol

 

Im not a fan of frequent waterchanges either. I feel playing around with lighting/moving things, changing flows, worrying about this or that usually means hands are in the water a lot frequently which in turn decreases stability. go slow let it grow =)

 

Every tank is different and sometimes tanks just click ,the right flow amount of light ect. I also don't do very many water changes, allot of dosing though.

 

nope no dosing or adding anything no skimmer no carbon nuthin.. just a stock biocube

she got me started ...then i went into the deepend lol....she has a bicolor blenny,saddle back clown,scooter blenny,manderin,firefish,fire shrimp,sexy shrimp,and a pink cucumber...o nd a yellow tang lol jkjk
