Ya, tomorrow I will be moving the frogspawn over a few inches...i have guests tonight but the frogspawn is fairly small right now and i haven't seen any tentacles, yet!
I don't have many corals and they are all fairly spaced apart, I have a perfect place higher in the tank for the xenia and it isn't near any other corals. I have my leather on the other side of the tank from my frogspawn. I will be only getting small frags of xenia as they aren't easy to come by here and I am picking it up myself so no worries on shipping. I mostly have shrooms, how are shrooms near corals? I can't seem to find any info on the toxity.

How is it that others can keep their corals in close proximity? I mean you see all these pics of tanks and the corals are everywhere. But to be on the safe side I have placed all my corals relatively far apart. I'll attach a pic, you let me know what u guys think, okay.

Everything looks good to me nemo! As to why some folks are able to keep certain corals in close proximity with others, well, it's all about experience and research. You just need to know what corals will "get along" with others and which won't. For example, most euphyllia corals (i.e. frogspawns, hammers, anchors) can be kept very close together, even touching, and there won't be any problems. But at the same time, put a torch coral (also a euphyllia) coral close to a hammer or a torch and it will sting the crap outta them. That's why it's so important to do your homework before adding any animals to a reef tank. There's far too many variables to allow for spontaneous purchases.

Well I have done alot of homewrk but can't find a site that tells what gets along and what doesn't. Are lps and sps hard corals and then there are softies or is there 4 grps?

Corals are usually generalized as sps, lps and soft. It's hard to figure out what's going to get along with what but after a while, you'll learn which corals are more aggressive than others and what can and cannot be placed where. Do you own any coral care/identification books? If not, it might be something you'll want to look into purchasing.

For what it's worth the tank look great and I'd just leave it all where it all is right now all of them look healthy and fine. If it ain't broke nd besides moving corals can kill them as fast as anything I know of. I hate to put my hands in a tank once it running. I do but not very often did this last weekend and it will be months before i do it again. LOL

thanks, I feel the same way, I have had to fiddle with powerheads the last week and it ticked me off. I think I had way too much flow because some of my corals were being blown too hard or were closing up and besides the frogspawn all my other corals are low flow. I had to do the turn each ph off one at a time to figure out which was the culprit. Well sure enough the 176gph and the hydor flow attachement were the cause. I now have 2 maxijet 1200 and one mj 400 running and things are fully opened and happy. I am a little paranoid of getting cyano but I had no choice but to shut one off and don't know where I could put it that wouldn't cause an uproar in my dt. I tell you if wave makers weren't sooo expensive I'd get one. Well I guess you can only prevent cyano to a point and I'll pray I never get that or flat worms.

Softies and LPS really do better with less flows just enough to pass food past them. If they are just swaying then thats fine. I have a open brain and a Frog spawn that are getting to much flow and they show it but the hammer is doing fine just above the Frog spawn as its in a little rock divit and the water just flows above it. But the sps are rocking LOL.. Thats why when Ii set eh larger tank up i made a few areas for LPS corals . On a 55 you might want to add one to each end and put it square in the center of the end panle of glass and have the top of the pump right at the waters surface. I like to use a rio 1700 on just one end and it seems to do perfectly in a system like you have . With two 1200's deflect one down to the bottom center and you have one shoot upwards to break the waters surface about dead center . tohether they will create a good oval vortex along the entire bottom of the tanks bottom media and all over the surface . Try it to see how it does you might find it works very well as many others have .It don't cost nothing LOL.

Looks like more than enough room to me. Your leather is fantastic!
