I'm new to saltwater and am converting my 150 gal to a reef (build thread to come). I've been reading as much as I can, but have some questions on the topic of bristleworms.

I have a couple pieces of LR from the LFS "curing" to use as seed for my dry rock. However, found this guy in the bottom of the container this morning.

I know bristleworms are good detritous eaters and are usually included in CUC's. However, I've read posts where people are trying to control them, get rid of them, not wanting big ones, etc.

Sooo... I'm a little confused on this topic. Should I put this guy back in with the LR and consider him a welcome part of the new tank or should I throw him out and consider myself lucky for finding him in the curing process? It's a good 5+" long.

Sorry for the poor image quality, but only have a cell phone camera atm.

Thanks for any insight and help! :)

They won't do any harm. Just don't touch it, they sting.

Get rid of it if you want oranmental shrimp. If you plan on reaching in the tank and moving rocks and coral watch out.

    Thanks for the responses!

Will keep him segregated for now. Don't want to get hit with a sting while I'm aquascaping. :)
