Is it possible that my salt evaporates too? I have an auto top-off in the return section of my sump. When I checked the salinity on sunday it was 1.024 and today it was 1.022. Shouldn't the salinity rise during evaporation hence why we put freshwater back in?

good question I to have come across this problem....my LFS owner went around the subject without answering this at all he just kept insisting I shouldn't add salted water for my top off, but I have and do sometimes if my salt drops....Hopefully someone can answer this I'd like to know...

Well obviously some salt is lost or you wouldn't get salt creep on everything.

You must be getting excessive salt creep. Do you have any airstones in your tank that cause bubbles to pop and splash saltwater out of the tank?

I have 2 airstones in my sump maybe that could be an issue. I could try with out them and see what happens.

Are you wet skimming? If you are getting evap, wet skimming (removing salt water), plus salt creep and only adding fresh in, you would be out of balance by adding all fresh water.

I am not wet skimming or at least I'm pretty sure im not. It has been on this whole week and its barley filled maybe an 1/8 with pure black crap so I'm pretty sure its dry skimming.

These is most likely your problem with good enough water movement there is NO need for air stones in a saltwater tank IMO
