I got this new guy the other day...[IMG]
and everywhere i put him he seems to float away. Where i have him i created a small dead spot so he isnt swept away. Do i need to worry about things building up on him or lighting? hes at the bottom of my 55 tall... 21 inches deep. 3 inch sandbed so 18inches from 4x54w t5s.

Why is it loose? Is it not attached to a plug or rock?
Those are zoa's and will most likely be happy just about anywhere in your tank. You could grow them in your toilet if you added salt and a light ;) For best, I would say medium to light and medium to lower flow. If you need them to attach, you can use super glue gel and glue them to a rock.

Polyps dont need much light. You should be fine. If it really is a floater and you want it to be somewhere specific its an easy fix. You just use the GEL type (regular wont work) superglue and form a large bead on the base. Move quickly and stick it fairly firmly into place. You can attatch it to a small rock, or directly to the LR itself. We so this all the time. Hope I helped.

OOPS PACKLEADER beat me to it :]

yea he just came loose like that when i got him. With the super glue.. this might sound dumb.. but i would assume you do that outside the water? and is there a certain type?

I would find a smaller rock, and do it outside of the water. It will be easier that way, plus you can move it around afterwards if you decide to.
As for the glue. Any type of the GEL works. Ive used both the super glue gel and the loctite gel. You just want the gel type because its thicker, and will be a lot easier to work with.
Also, wear eye goggles and gloves when working with zoa's and paly's. They contain playtoxin, which is one of the natural worlds most deadly. And they can squirt it. So just be a little more aware, and wash EVERYTHING very well when done.

Super glue will cure underwater but It's an artform . I seem to make a big mess with it and it comes loose a few weeks later.

We use the glue all the time. Yes OUTSIDE of the tank LOL. You have to create a bead (so to speak). Then as you push the coral onto the rock (under the water) the bead will rupture and the glue will instantly harden. They stick pretty well.
