Found a gorilla crab!

    I noticed a little gorilla crab in my rock today and i dont know alot about them, but what will they do? are they reef safe?

    i hear they are pretty bad, and will eat fish

    Gorilla crabs are not reef safe.

    Not sure about the reef but they will eat anything they can catch including sleeping fish.

    Darn....Well...how do i catch him then? he is VERY small.

    Try a small jar like the glass baby food jars,put something meaty in the bottom place it on the sand build little mound so the crab can climb in and chow down but he wont be able to escape...try putting it ner where u think he lives

    not sure if that glass jar thing will work. since i found a dried up crab on my floor 2 months ago. so that means he climbed the tank walls. i didnt think that was possible. oh i have never put any crabs in my tank. Well except hemit crabs. but you know what i mean. so this crab was a hitch hiker. couldnt tell his color since he was dried up, but seen hairs on his legs

    Alright, well he is in a rock that is about 10" from the sand, so ill try and trap him in the glass bottle and watch and see if he comes out and ill just grab it really quick.

    Or it climbed up the silicone? IME they can't climb smooth glass.
