I've been wanting to get a maze/worm brain for a long time. I've never seen anything resembling one in any LFSs in my area. Yesterday I stumbled across this:

It was labeled as a Merulina rather than a Platygyra but I bought it anyway. I did some searching on Merulinas and the pics that I found don't quite look like what I bought.

What do you think? Is this really a Platygyra? Either way it looks pretty cool but I really want to to grow into a round brain.

One way to find out for sure... Platygyra will have WICKED sweeper tentacles.. Watch at night. Or try this.. Find some frozen fish and try to feed the piece if feeding tentacles come out I would vote platygyra as well..

Thanks doc. I didn't see any sweepers within 15 minutes of lights out last night (may have been too early to tell). I didn't see any this morning before lights on but the room was already lit by natural daylight.

Edit, since I was trying to help a customer and type (shhh ;) ) I couldn't give a better response.. I would say 99% platygyra.. Merulina, all the "channels" go in the same direction, whereas yours does not..

It looks to me to be a platygyra as well.
