    Hello,
I read a lot on here and learn a lot but still have question, anyway let get to the point.

I have a 120 gallons set up, its been up and running for almost 2 years, I used to have t12 and then switch to t5 and now have leds. So my corals have been through many many changes, lost a few but some are stil sticking around. Since I switch to my leds I have been struggling with placement of my corals, I seem to underestimate how strong my lights are.
I have been taking this journey really slow, still learning everyday.

A few weeks ago I had to move my tank due to renovation in the house and when I moved everything I didnt realized that one of my powerhead was working backward, But all my corals were opening more than before. So obviously they didnt like the amount of current. I have 2 koralia evo 1400, right now only one is working and my corals love it, my question is should I leave it off but it seems like i have more dead spot, or should I buy one that is not as strong or should I try reposition my powerheads.

Right now they are on the back wall shooting toward the middle at the glass.

Also is it possible to eliminate my powerheads by having more than one return, or would it be not enough flow?

    Thanks

I'm really inerested in this subject. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I've always heard that you should take your gallons and multiply it by 50 and that is you gph. So in a 120g, you should have 6000gph (120 X 50 = 6000). I wouldn't take my word for it (that seems like a lot to me) but that is what I've heard. I'll be following this thread to see what people have to say. Good luck! :D

If your corals are liking it, you can try it out for a while and see what happens. I have 2x 1400 evos in my 65. So it's not too much flow for a 120 for sure. Sometimes it has to do with too much flow from too few of sources, which I believe is your problem. It might be better if you had 4x 700 ph's then having 2x 1400's. What are you keeping for corals? That will be one of the major factors on how much flow you want/need.

For the most part you should be good with less flow for softies and LPS. Just keep an eye out for dead spots as detritus can accumulate. I've seen tanks with less flow lol.

Thanks, my main concern is dead spot witch I do have some now, maybe I will redirect my return to try to avoid dead spot. How are your powerhead position in your tank?

Same as you had yours (one either side pointing to front middle of tank) and I also have a small korallia 400 blowing straight across behind the rocks about 4" up from the bottom.
