Feel like a tool. Was filling my brute with rodi last night and forgot to put the waste line in my sump. So long story short I woke up to a mess.

My basement is unfinished all cement floors except for the stairway is framed , drywalled and plastered. The drywall seems fine but the 2x4s got pretty wet. I busted out the dry vac and got the bulk of it up but I am worried about mold under the 2x4 framing. Can chlorinated city water cause a mold issue if cleaned up quickly? Should I bleach the floor and as many studs as I can reach?

    Soggytoes: Flooded Basement..

I would have expected to see "Posts: 1"

I personally don't think you'll have too much of a problem.. just put some heat on it to dry it quickly.. it's extended exposure to humidity/water that will cause mold issues..

Uhhh. Waste line shouldn't go in the sump the product line should. That's all I know. Lol.

Hes probably talking about waste line going into his sump pump. Not the tank sump.

+1; I would worry more about what bleach would do to the nails/screws in the framing than I would the one time exposure to tap water.

Now if it becomes a regular occurrence, that's another story... :p:)

I like that your name is soggytoes, and you flooded. It was destined to happen.

They do make a pretty simple float valve to shut the ro/DI off.

My system runs the RO to a 3g tank

From there- goes to a small tap on the sink top for drinking/cooking. It is also t'd off to go to my frigs water dispenser and the ice maker.

It also goes to a DI resin cannister when I need DI for my system. That one goes thru my basement ceiling to my sump's float vavle. I have a valve just before it also that I keep on just a trickle anyways when the float is open- works great.
I've already got another float valve ordered to put on a smaller tank above my sump that I can dose into also coming on line soon.

For WC's, I shut the valve, disconnect the line and put in in my trash can in the basement(solely for WC's), mix salt, etc.

Sorry for our flood, if the RO/DI waste line is run to your basement sump pump, I hope it then goes discharged out on your lawn? I may have to try that, as of now, mine only goes down the drain pipe!

Get some fans after you shop vac the big stuff, it'll be fine.
