I brought home a flameing scallop yesterday. He found a nice cave to attach to, and appears to be open and feeding. I have read they are heavy feeders, and I was wondering if I could drip feed, if so, what rate would you suggest.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of drip feeding. I don't see "stuff" being consumed at a rate fast enough to where it needs to be dripped IMO. Just spot feed some phyto a few times a week.

Flame scollops are nice, the eletric ones are even nicer. Unfortunately tho they are really heavy feeders and usually die in the home aquarium.

I have various filter feeders, that my lfs guy said would benifit from feeding (feather dusters and softies) already in the tank, my tank is established and I have not added anything to the tank to feed them. I have a good skimmer, but I only run it 10hrs a day. I thought they would benifit from the left overs, anyway thanks for the advice. I dont want to do anything that will endanger the over all health of my tank; so target feeding it is.

I had two that lasted about 9 months (got lazy and did not feed them phyto for a couple months). Just give them phyto once a week and you should be ok and enjoy.

Thanks for starting this thread as I'm looking to add an electric flame scallop when my tank is more established.

    Good info from everyone.

I'm already feeding phyto for all my corals and other filter feeders. So won't be a problem.
