I was looking at a Flame Hawk for my next fish.

I have a Coral Beauty, 2 Ocellaris, One Lawnmower Blenny.

    Cerith Snails.

I was told they are reeef safe unless you have snails or small shrimp. I have no shrimp now but plan on getting a pistol shrimp'goby pair down the road nd also couple cleaner shrimp.. also as mentioned I have the snails. Has anyone had a problem with a Hawkfish eating there pistol shrimp?

we had one that loved the taste of shrimp and also killed 2 fish it was very mean and wanted to control the whole tank. We decided it had to go at that point.

My fiance' got me one for Valentine's day and my tank was already at max capacity and I had two Fire Shrimp. But I kept him anyways and he has been great. He is always active. Hasn't bullied any fish. And most importantly, hasn't went after any of my shrimp, hermits, or snails. Probably depends on the fish, but from my experience I would strongly recommend one.

He may go after your Blenny a bit because the Hawk likes to perch and swoop down on things below it.

I have a pistol paired with a Randall's goby - my flame hawk never bothers them. My pistol is always busy - I see it when it is pushing loads of substrate up through the burrom entrance - the goby is ALWAYS there hoving over the pistol.

Even if the flame showed any interest - i suspect he might get his lil red butt kicked. :)

I added my flame hawk long after the others were established and I have yet to see him bully anything - mine is super friendly and very curious / personable as far as a fish goes.

If you do get one, perhaps get one on the slightly smaller side. Mind is now about an inch and a half long but he was a bit smaller when we got him. The worst that would happen might be that you have to return a fish. I always remind myself that bottom line - this is how nature works, and each critter / fish is unique. Just watch your tank to see what happens.

    Best of luck! :)
