If you have experience with the two in the same tank please let me know how they did together. If they did well, what did you do? Was there any nipping at all? If they did not do well, what happened and what did you do?

I understand that it depends on the fish, but I would like to get a rough estimate of how many had good or bad experiences with them.

p.s. I keep mainly LPS, zoas, a few sps, and 4 clams ranging from 2"-8".

Hey xmetal - I can't speak to flame angels, but I have kept a coral beauty and crocea clam together for the last year or so.....haven't had a bit of nipping issues with the mantle. I have more problems with the coral beauty nipping at SPS.

I have had a small Maxima clam in my 75 gallon tank with a Flame Angelfish for about a month and have not witnessed any mantle nipping.

I have a flame angel and 2 Maximas in my 55g reef. Initially when I put the clams in, the flame picked at them a tiny bit, now he doesn't bother either at all.

I had them together for about year and a half and it left the clams alone but destroyed the neptheas.

Thanks for the info guys. My plan is to get him nice and fat in my fuge first. Put one of my clams with him and continue feeding him. I will do this for about a week. If he doesn't nip at the clam I will put him in the DT. If not, he will have a good sized fuge all to himself.

In the PSU tank there are quite a few angels: 2 flames, 2 bandits, and one emperor. None nip at the 10" derasa
