Fishing time!

NICE. Thats awesome I will be trying this today! I will let you know how it works, sounds like a really good plan.

 

Well, it may seem barbaric but you could always go buy some small fishing hooks and just fish them out the normal way. You dont have to worry about hurting the fish because the nerve endings in the mouth are not very sensitive, and their mouths grow back very easily. There is a chance the hook could go into the wrong place or that the fish rips its mouth completely off but you just have to ask yourself if you want to catch the fish that badly, and how badly you don't want to disturb your tank.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested this before, it's just about the only way to reliably catch fish in a reef tank without destroying the aquascape.

I tried this. The problem is I have some aggressive eaters in my tank, pair of triggers, tangs, etc. that were all over the hook when it went in the water. Couldn't get it anywhere near the angel.

Plastic bag = success, I'm telling you. It will take longer to make your bag-trap then it will take to catch the perp.

 

I can't get the bag to work..The mouth of the bag doesnt want to even open up so the fish can get into it.. it just sucks around the rock I just cant catch this fish..

 

I ended up taking a plastic jug (actually an empty vinegar jug) and cut a piece out of the middle, so I basically had a big plastic ring. I then put this in the middle of the bag to keep the mouth open. This with the rocks kept it open.

 

K one last attempt them im just taking apart my whole tank.

 

I caught him! so. this is how I did it, he did NOT like plastic bags at all.. I used a clear two liter bottle, cut off the top part and put a piece of rock rubble in it. and set it at the bottom of the tank. Then I put some flakes into the back of the bottle and waited with a net on the other side of the tank.. gave it 10 minutes or so and he swam into it and I covered the hole with the net. MWUAHAHAHHA evil fish is gone. safely at my LFS where he looked just as happy..

 

Nice - congratulations. When I finally bagged my angel, I shouted so loud I think my neighbors probably heard me. It's like hitting the freaking lottery after trying for days to catch a fish...

 

oh it was.. I was so happy. It was just in time too make it down to the LFS and back... it was a crazy adventure.. when i was filing his bag up with air I accidentally popped it! luckily I had a bucket of water close by, its hard to work my air compressor haha It was pretty dumb but the fish was fine.. quite a day though, he made it safely to the LFS and he seemed just fine. Now I know how to catch fish for the future to lol
