Don't get a mandarin, I would get a coral beauty or flame angelfish.

7 fish in a 45 is a bit of really heavy bio load, just make sure you can filter all that poop

1/2" of fish per 2 gallons of water is a "green zone" bioload. assuming each of those fish you listed are 2" fish, about 4 of them, with one "jewel" fish at 3-4 inches.

    something like
    2 clowns
    1 royal gramma
    1 cardinal of your choice
and you "big" fish would be your bicolor angel <--not reef safe BTW

that'd work, i really like puffers too but i dont know alot about them, what i do knwo is that when some of them die and or get stressed (which happens alot in new tanks) then they secret a toxin that'll kill all tank mates, thats too risky for my blood.

I know ALOT about freshwater and brackish puffers lol....i have a tattoo of my figure 8 puffer who died and the whole reason i got interested in salt tanks is because the little puffers are so colorful and look really cool

Stocking marine tanks is based on surface area, how active the fish is, amount of waste produced, and how much filtration you have.
