My wrasse appears to have a nasty wound on his side. I noticed it a few days ago, it looked like raised scales. So I thought he just had a little owie, but now, some scales fell off and the area is red and bulging. Nasty.

He's eating well and active. I put some stress coat stuff in the water.

Anything I can do to help him heal?

I add crushed garlic to the food I freeze. I've seen my clowns beat the crap out each other while deciding who will be the Dom, and even with chunks taken out of their noses they both healed perfectly fine and no issues with disease after.

I wouldn't recommend long time use of garlic-been reading that it may be damaging to the fishes liver. Something to research ;)

That is interesting. Is this something new? I always thought garlic was used to boost the immune system, but maybe it is better used in moderation?

That would definitely be helpful to know if it turns out to be true. Can you post exactly where you found this info? I'm sure many others would like to follow that study.

I hate to vear off topic (forum subject), and I'll be sure to guide us back on, but I was always under the impression that garlic was a healthy additive for marine life. I'd love to read more about the negative sayers on this because I feed it to my tank occupants religiously. I'd hate to be wrong and have everything die of liver poisoning.
Now, back to the subject matter at hand.....KCBrad, how has your wrass been? I was wondering what other fish you have in the tank? It's possible that your wrass is being attacked, or nipped and has lost it's scales that way. Has it been hiding more than usual?
