i tested my magnesium for the first time today. it was 1200ppm. so i did dose some brightwell aquatics stuff to raise a little. still not to bad for only water changes.

i used the red sea test kit. it was kinda a hassle. the needle thingy for the small syringe kept falling off, so i would have to start all over again.

I purchased Red Sea calcium test kit and found the needle to be very secure in use?

I have several Red Sea kits, one of them was loose like that so I put a drop of superglue around the end of the plunger and then added the tip.

i just looked at it again. its very loose but dose fit on the larger syringe. does the tip go on a large 5ml syringe of small 1ml ???? maybe they put the wrong one in my kit.

in the CA test it goes on the 1ml thin syringe
the large one if for measuring the 5ml of water into the test tube and you dont need the needle

yeah thats the same way for the magnesium. oh well not a huge deal. i just have to hold it on, or go without (which works ok so long as my aim is good and it doesnt hit the side of the tube. i might try to find a new syringe.

A drop of superglue will solve the problem.

How accurate are the red sea ones? All my past experiences with red sea test kits have been bad. Personally I use seachem to test magnesium and API for everything else.
