a hang on filter makes cleaning simple
I started my tank with one that used 2 filter cartridges at the same time. I removed one of them and put in a protein skimmer so I had a mini sump lol

I like hermit crabs because their tiny claws can reach into the tiny cracks.

 

I agree 110% with the two aquaclears one as a fuge thing.

 

Just killed my Aiptasia and th rock is back in the tank. I'll be buying my test kit within the next week to see how the water is. Working on a budget is hard, but it'll work

I hear you man on working with a budget. Try having 4 kids (4 still still in pull ups/diapers), 2 high car payments, 40 minute commute each way to work with these gas prices and in the Army when the government does think we need raises lol. ;D

I should be getting my first clowns within the next few weeks. I should be getting some money from YouTube pretty soon, so that will fund my first few fish and some zoas. I'm pretty ecited.

my 20 long is about the same age as yours

I also just started an 20 long fishtnak and also I had a 2.5 gallon fresh water tank and I thought it was too much of a pain :-/. I was told smaller the harder to keep happy. I was just out of town for two days for a landscaping convention on Columbus Ohio I came home and there was brown bacteria growing on my Texas holey rock. Went to the LFS and they told me it was Diatoms also had water tested. I will be watching your post see if we have the same issues
Whats in my tank right now:
· 8 pounds of Texas holey rock
· 4 pounds of volcanic rock
· 4 pounds of live rock
· 1 power head ( got from a family member)
· Marine life 350 bio wheels
· Older bio wheel that’s missing the filter and bio wheel more for water movement
· Lighting a reef light
· 2 clown fish there about 4 months old when I got them from the LFS
