we've had a pair of firefish for quite sometime, they've always stayed very close together, now all of the sudden the larger of the two is chasing the other to the other side of the tank? And the one doing the chasing is acting a little strange, he's staying in one spot in the tank, and making very small jerky movements. The other one just cowers and lay's low across the tank. Anyone have any clues? Thank's

He's showing the other one who's boss. Like when a dog pees on a tree, or mounts another dog.

Unless they are an actual mated pair, firefish can be very tough to keep in groups. It will usually lead to ones death, whether from abuse or jumping.

holy crap, are they're any fish that get along with everyone...? That's the kind of tank I want and it seems no matter how hard I research (compatible) fish before I buy, something always get a attitude...

It is almost like a pecking order to show like everyone else stated dominance but can be very stressful for the other fish. They can live with each other but later on throughout the life of the firefish one will show dominance unless a pair.
