I'm not sure if i'm posting this thread under the right category...
Im wondering if anyone has any ideas for improving the filtration in my 29 gallon Biocube. I took the bioballs out years ago, and was running chemipure elite and the standard biocube skimmer (Which broke about a week ago), so I think it's time to switch things up. I don't want to make any huge mods, but i'm thinking about adding media racks, and maybe a refugium in the middle chamber. And probably a higher quality skimmer. Any ideas? Thanks!

The center chamber really isn't big enough to make a huge difference, I would just get a good skimmer and maybe a larger return pump. An external refugium would be a better idea if its doable.;)

+1 its not really big enough to make a difference, i just threw liverock in my bc14 middle chamber and upgraded the pump to a maxijet 900.

I was thinking of stuffing the middle with charting and a submersible 10w light. Putting an upgraded skimmer in the first compartment, and putting an upgraded pump and carbon in the third. I would do the external five, but it seems a tad difficult with the biocube running.

I ran the inTank media basket with the Tunze9002 Skimmer for a year. I was very pleased with the results.

Here is what my BC29 had:
    Chamber 1: LR and heater
Chamber 2: inTank media basket w/skimmer
    Chamber 3: MaxiJet1200

The tunze was great? :) and did you make your own media basket, or did you use the one on mediabaskets.com? I've decided to build an in-stand refugium. I know which fuge and overflow box to get, but when it comes to installing and connecting the two, I'm clueless. :p any help would be appreciated. And by the way, nice username. ;)

    Thanks! :)

Check out my build thread here: http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-of...e-build-thread-dosing-pumps-added-133894.html

I bought mine from inTank, I really like the build quality and look.

Wow! That's an awesome setup. I really like the led hood modification. Did you notice a large difference with the fuge? The overflow box I'm going to use fits on the biocube here it is: Reef Aquarium Filtration: Eshopps Overflow Boxes and I'll post the link to the fuge in a second post. I'm thinking of a mag drive 5 for return pump... Unless that's overkill? The overflow box is the nano model.

Thanks! I noticed my water is more stable since I have more of it. Also it's nice to run carbon and my dosing pumps down there instead of my DT.

I was going to do the Mag 5 but a lot of people complained there was to much heat given off. That's why I did the Sicce 2.0, great pump and very quiet.

I'm curious to see the install of your overflow, I really wanted to do the DIY route but there are so many different products out there now it's insane.
