filter sock in sump cleaning question

I seem to be rinsing it out every 4-5 days. Is this normal or is there a better way I can be going about this?

 

Thats about right. Mechanical filtration needs to be cleaned regularly. I have three I keep in rotation.

 

For the 75 gallon DT with a 30 gallon sump, running about 600 gph from a Mag 9.5 through the sump, I found it necessary to change the filter or clean it every 4 to 5 days. Any longer and it would begin overflowing around 6 to 7 days....

 

i rinse mine a few times in a old salt bucket then turn them inside out and run them through the washing machine (no soap of course!)

 

+K thanks for your replies guys! Hadn't thought about getting additional and rotating them out, great idea.

 

Change mine once a week. When I pull out the dirty ones they get rinsed and put in a bucket. Once I get 8 or 10 I put them all in the washer with 1/4 cup bleach on HOT with double rinse. When they are done I soak them in a bucket with RO and chlorine remover for 24 hours. Than they are hung out to dry. I ordered 25 below at a really good price from the below link.
