Ok so I have read on here that several of you wash your filter socks to be used again. So does this mean you just throw them in the washing machine? My wife would prob kill me for even asking but how is this done? Do you just use hot water, or bleach, or something organic? If you have experience with this please enlighten me.

From my understanding you wash the sock in bleach because when bleach dries it does not leave any residue on the sock so its safe for re-use

The higher the micron number the finer the mesh it is. A 200 would catch more debris than a 100 but would also clog up faster.

You could rinse them off in the sink with warm water and a tiny amount of bleach or vinegar.

Flip that around. A 100 is finer than a 200.

I used 2 to 3 different 100's a week. Then on the weekend when I blew off my rocks or did any kind of maintenance, I would put a 1 micron on for several hours.

I never used anything but bleach as that is the safest.

So the consensus is bleach then. And they are safe in the washing machine and the washing machine is safe from them or should I stick to washing them in the sink?

    Here is my process

      1. rinse dirty sock in water
      2. hangout to dry
      3. when I have 10+ rinsed socks
      4. throw in the washer hot with 1/4 cup bleach
      5. extra rinse cycle
      6. soak socks in ro with Prime chlorine remover 24 hours
      7. hang out to dry
      8. store once dry
I have about 25 socks I rotate out about every 5 to 7 days.

Ardo made a great point.....have a lot of them. Filter socks that aren't changed frequently cause more harm than good. The way I found to ensure that I would change them was to have a bunch. That way, if I wasn't in a "cleaning mood" all I had to do was pull an old sock and put on a clean sock. Time elapsed: 30 seconds.

I should of added that. When I only had 4 of them I would end not changing them as often. Even if you do not rinse them right away they will be fine.
