I know poly filters are good but extremly expensive. Does any one know of any pads that clean off easily and last for a good amount of time?

I know of no reusable pads. I used pads for most of my time in this hobby and just recently switched to filter socks. IMO socks are much more convenient. They're reusable and good as new after a short laundry cycle with a bit of bleach. They're easy to change, too.

It comes rolled up in a box. I just unroll what I need and cut off the size piece. Its alot cheaper than buying at the LFS. I run filter socks on my 120 and I like them. I just have to wash them after use. both have an advantage as disadvantage.

well im not having any issues with water quality but im just trying to stay on top of the game that way i dont end up with any problems in the future.

Qestion on the filter sock. Do you dry in the dryer after you wash it in the washer? and does the fact that it is getting cleaned with regular water affect anything? i dont know if thats a stupid question or not but i pretty new and i always hear don't use tap water for anything!!! so im just wandering.

mine is about 99% dry when it comes out of the spin cycle so I dont put it in the dryer. I havent seen any adverse effects from washing.
