Filter for QT tank?

    I just set up my first 23long QT tank, using water directly from my DT. My question is regarding filters for the QT, ive read that I could use a sponge filter. I dont have any filters from my DT I can change over, I just bought this tank for this reason so my budget is pretty low right now. What types of filters does everyone use for their QT tank, and would I be starting another cycle in the QT be adding a new filter to it?

    My plan is to run a sponge filter in my DT for about a week to gather bacteria, while doing water changes 4-5 times a day (small amounts about a liter a time if not a bit more) with DT water going into the QT and old water trashed. Would this be enough to keep the fish in QT alive until sponge is ready?
