wait, do you just have it on 1 piece of LR in a tote, or are they in your DT? If its just on the 1 piece, I'd nuke it, and be done with it! All ya need to seed your tank is a lil bit of sand or rock!

I'm sure a local reef club or member here would give ya a aiptasia free piece!

Yeah, it's just sitting in a 5 gal tote with an air filter for circulation. I have a CF (6500K) light that I run for 8 hrs per day to keep a mushroom happy that is also on the LR.

Finding a piece of "clean" seed rock would be great!

DT should get water in the next day or so!

Where do you live? IMO, i wouldn't be using that rock! But that's just me! I'd soure a piece or buy some Dr. Tims or something to use! The critters will come!

This place has some cool stuff and is reasonable! Never used but seen it suggested alot!

    Thanks for the link!

I'll get everything set-up and circulating with base rock. That'll give me a month or so to try and figure out where to come up with some critters and coralline to seed it.

Coming around to the fact that it's got to go. To many people have told me to forget about the current LR, and I think I'm going to learn from other people's mistakes for once. ;)

I had a few show up in my DT.

Aftering ID'ing them, I took out the pieces of rock, laid them on a towel, and torched them for about 5 minutes with a Butane fireplace starter, and put them back in.

    Worked for me.

LoL! The "it could be drugs" is my favorite excuse for me too. Never works for me either. EBay is the enemy in this household too. :)

I made the classic newbie mistake...

Thought about switching from FW to SW, was convinced I could do it by the LFS, tore down my tank and got rid of all my cichlids, THEN I started researching equipment and what it was going to cost. Mama was not a happy camper. :)

+ 1,000,000. Was the only way I got rid of all mine. People whine because they are expensive and once the aip's are gone the "poor" berghia starve to death. Meh maybe so but after the pests were all gone I found it easy to recapture the living originals and a bunch of their descendants as they hunted for food that was no longer there. I easily made my money back 20x over selling them to area hobbyists with aip problems.
