I wanted to share a tip w/ other newbies like myself because I struggled w/ this one. My 2 clownfish don't seem to care to feed from the surface, but they eat well when the food is at the mid-tank level. As much as I tried I was not able to get my Freeze Dried Brine Shrimp to sink...it seemed to always float on the surface no matter what I did.

Finally, I took a pinch and stuck it under the water and squeezed it up against the glass...For whatever reason it stayed there for a few seconds and from that point on, no longer floated to the surface....the clowns are able to feed at their level and love it.

Hope this helps others that struggled w/ the freeze dried foods.

I tried the freeze dried brine, but my clowns won't eat it at all..
I have a turkey baster that I stick in and just slowly squeeze it out. They come over, watch it and take one in then spit it out....

Day 2, I went and picked up the lil frozen cubes and did the same thing. They sucked that stuff right up. So much so that they won't touch the flakes anymore... lol

LOL...I do plan on trying the frozen cubes soon but I figured my clowns, like yours, would want it exclusively ;-)

Yes that procedure definitely works, but to go through that in feeding less than optimal food sources is not as beneficial! Low nutrient value combined with the fact that it is mostly water, though you use freeze-dried, the nutrient value still is lacking! I would use clam, mysis shrimp or formula foods as a much more nutritional choice!
