1.)When do you feed your tank? I feed twice a day. I have an automatic feeder that feeds pellets and flakes at 2 pm and I feed by hand when i get home from work between 6 - 8 pm.

2.)What do you feed your tank (brand name if you know it?) I feed new life spectrum pellets, spiralina flakes, frozen cubes of mysis, brine, emerald entree, and marine cuisine (san francisco bay), nori (green and purple). For the coral I feed reef chili, a frozen coral food (can't remember brand), reef bugs, and just added cyclopeez to the mix. I feed the anemones once a week (i mix it up between shrimp, scallops, squid and smelt from the fresh seafood section of the grocery store.)

3.)How much do you feed your tank at each feeding? The automatic feeder dumps a pinch of pellets and pinch of flakes at 2 pm. When i get home, i feed two cubes of frozen (i rotate the type) and a half a sheet of nori (switch between purple and green). Three times a week i feed the corals on a rotation of reef bugs, reef chili, frozen cube of coral food, and just recently cyclopeez.

4.)How do you prepare what you are feeding? the frozen i thaw in tank water, strain, then add to different glass of tank water with either selcon or zoe and soak for 30 minutes.

5.)How do you feed (feed tube, throw it on top, etc?)? For the frozen, i just pour into the tank after following the above procedure. i use two seaweed clips on opposite sides of the tank for the nori.

6.)What is the primary reason you feed in the way you do? (less feeding for nitrate control, a certain food for a certain coral, or feeding more for a certain fish species, etc) I just go for variety.

7.)Anything special you have learned about feeding or a food recipe you use. i feel that the vitamin soak (selcon, zoe, etc.) for the fish food is important. i have seen a noticable difference in the health of the fish when i have stopped for an extended period.

8.)Basic Tank information: Tank size in gallons and heavy, medium, or light fish population? See my signature.

6.)What is the primary reason you feed in the way you do? It works...thriving corals....essential elements stable...zero mortality due to nutrition.

7.)Anything special you have learned about feeding or a food recipe you use. Do not over feed....just because the fish come to you at the glass don't mean they are hungry ! : )

1.)When do you feed your tank? Everyday or every other. Depends on schedule. In evening between 8 and 9:30

2.)What do you feed your tank (brand name if you know it?) Some combination of: PE Mysis,SF Bay Variety blend, Brine Shrimp, Spirunla Flake, Marine pellets, Different gel foods. Always PE mysis though. Soaked in Selecon and sometimes Vitamin C and garlic. Nori everyday for Tang, CUC loves it too.

3.)How much do you feed your tank at each feeding? The total equivelent of 1/2 cube

4.)How do you prepare what you are feeding? Put frozen food in cup and defrost (I am just starting to experiment with R/O water rinse). Add selecon and flake.

5.)How do you feed (feed tube, throw it on top, etc?)? Turkey Baster with pumps off

6.)What is the primary reason you feed in the way you do? (less feeding for nitrate control, a certain food for a certain coral, or feeding more for a certain fish species, etc) Allows the fish to eat all or most of food so it doesn't blow around the tank. Also allow the CUC to get any missed food since it ends up in a small area.

7.)Anything special you have learned about feeding or a food recipe you use. I like to try different combinations. And I'll try any type of food once.

8.)Basic Tank information: Tank size in gallons and heavy, medium, or light fish population? Both light population
Tank 1: 75 gal FOWLR Picasso clown, black bar chroms, long fin fairy wrasse, CUC.
Tank 2: 150 gal (reef someday) O clown, rainfords goby, Blue Tang, 3 green chromis, royal gramma, 2 camel shrimp, red brittle star, CUC.

4.)How do you prepare what you are feeding? Crush the flakes to bite-sized pieces for smaller mouths.

5.)How do you feed (feed tube, throw it on top, etc?)? Sprinkle it across the surface.

When I feed: I used to feed twice a day but have since gone to once a day when I get home from work...Week ends I feed the fish morning and night.. flakes in the morning ..dinner is as usual...

what I feed: I feed frozen Mysis, Cyclops, frozen red worms ( occasionally as a treat for the fish) or brine shrimp( alternate days ,I keep a log) thawed in tank water then drained...This is given to my fish and my flesh eating corals ... during feeding all power heads ,pumps and skimmers are turned off ( I use this time to clean the sock filter and skimmer while they eat)... my filter feeders are fed Kent marine micro vert, Kent marine zoo plankton or phyto plankton.. again alternating days and all target feeding is done via a turkey baster. Once a week ( after water change) I feed 8 capfuls of Algen green water ...broad cast fed.. once a month I give the tank a 1000 shot of 'pods for my mandarin and sand sifter...

Amounts: I split 1 cube of frozen for the fish and corals... I use one capful (in the turkey baster) of whatever liquid I am feeding split between my filter feeders... sometimes I will supplement this with thawed thinly sliced table shrimp or scallops ( for my meat eaters)

Primary reason for feeding this way:, this has evolved... coming from the dark side ( fresh water) feeding 2 or 3 times a day seemed normal... 25- 30% water changes were cheap and normal.. this doesn't' fly in the reef.. so I have learned... because I have corals and filter feeders that need spot feeding and a need to control nitrate with out massive ( expensive ) water changes and have only a few small to medium fish, some of which are plankton feeders or sand sifters,by using a varied diet high in nutrition I feel once a day is enough.. also, by feeding when I get home, I can monitor the amount consumed and vary it as needed... I now can tell when they are getting full and stop feeding even if there is food left.. and food not consumed immediately by the corals and anemone are sucked up with the baster . Not to mention I can enjoy the tank as it comes to life with the addition of food..

Tank info: 75 gallon tall... 26 gallon sump with refugium and skimmer.. 3 clownfish ( I know odd number but they LOVE each other) 2 Blue green Chromis, one yellow tail damsel, one green spot mandarin, one diamond spot goby, one lawn mower blenny... about 10 hermit crabs( blue and red leg) ..one emerald crab.. a peppermint shrimp.. 2 emerald crabs.. nudibranches.. assorted snails fan worms and sponges... as well as LPS, SPS and soft corals..zo's and mushrooms. And 2 anemone's

what have I learned: I learn something every day.. and plan to do so until I take a dirt nap... most of all..I've learned my pets habits... right down to my feather dusters and duncans!
