Long story short, 6-7 weeks ago I started feeding daily (small amounts of frozen Brine, Prime, or flake that dissapear in 2-3 minutes)after being reccomended to do so by one of my LFS. Since then the tank has developed some red slime algae. I have good filtration and water flow. Labs are good and virtually unchanged (although the slime algae may be eating the Nitrates and phosphates before labs can register them). I may go back to every other day feeding but have been told different things by my LFS's.

I am hoping some expereinced 3 Reefers can chime in on whether to feed daily or every other day.
    Thanks,
    Jim

I started feeding every other day because I started getting cyano bacteria. This is the red slime algae you described. Switched to every other day and it went away.

Yup, was feeding every day, got some algae issues. Switched to every other day, and the algae is dieing off. Some people feed every day with no problems. It has a lot to do with with your your tank. So if your having problems then try the every other day and see how that works.

I feed twice a week as every other day was adding too many nutrients. My fish are still fat and happy and I've been doing this for at least 9 months.

Some fish require more frequent feedings, but you can safely cut back to far less than you think. Just keep a close eye on your fish and if they start to get thin, then increase the feedings.

I know people who never feed their fish. They like having the fish but their tanks are dedicated to their corals. The fish are a sidebar and amazingly the fish survive. Not sure what they are eating and I'm not suggesting that you stop feeding. But you can feed far less than you think you need to.

The fish probably live off of the live rock, grazing on algae that grows, but fish need fattier meaty foods every once in a while to be healthy.

Well, they are definitely living off of something. Again, I wouldn't recommend not feeding and I'm not about to do it myself. And I do agree that most fish need meaty foods to be healthy. Not all though :)

I switched to every other day after battling algae/cyano. The tank looks much better now!

using frozen over flake food and dumping the juices helps a ton. It's surprising how much phosphate is in flake food.

I noticed the same thing in my tank too...I used to feed every other day but my tangs (hippo and yellow) get angry and the hippo picks on the clowns when he's hungry, so I started feeding daily a few months ago and I'm getting some cayano...I'm considering going back to every other day and just feed the tangs nori daily.

I feed about 5 times a week, skipping a day here and there. I rotate between frozen PE Mysis, Cyclopeeze, spirulina algea and flake.
