Our tank is currently still cycling, but last night I found these!!! From my numerous window shopping trips to the pet store I am assuming these are feather dusters? Also there is some kind of green plant growing on one of the rocks. Can anyone help me ID these? Will they live through the cycle? Are they bad or good?

Numbers 1 and 3 look like mini dusters. You'd be right on calling 2 a macroalgae as well, but I'm not sure what type.

cannot help ID the macro either, but I agree 1 and 3 are fan worms

Yes these can and often do make it through the cycle
I have had both the types you have, come on live rock I purchased in the past and survived for almost 3 years and probably could have survived longer ( tank was taken down after 3 years)

    Thanks!

So these are both good right? ;D

Patience is not my greatest virtue (the tank cycle is killing me lol), but at least now I can have something to look at lol

    THANKS!!!

the fan, tube, mini dusters are harmless filter feeders and as such are good

the Macro - it could be good, it looks like it has plates, so my initial thoughts are its a Halimeda species, which is good
there are a few Macro algaes that can become a nuisance ( grape calerpa for example as it has an extensive root system, grows rapidly and if you not lucky, claims a rock you had yellow polyps on - for example)

also a question 2k2f4i are you any relation of Mrs 2k2f4i who joined 3 reef today?

I agree on pics 1 and 3. In pic 2 the bright green macro may or may not survive it seems to have difficulty in our tanks. As for the other algae I cannot tell what it is but I do not think it is a Caulerpa species. So I think they are good for your tank also.
