this is a red algae that started growing and thriving since 6months ago. it is growing from a rock that has been in my tank from the beggining of my setup. rather decent looking, under 10000k lights there is a blue iridescent glow to it.
looks just like this File:Fauchea laciniata.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

is there anything anyone can tell me about this algae. i cant seem to get any info

how did this just grow out of the blue?
    is it worth keeping?
will or can it get out of control?

Sweet, if there is the tiniest bit on the rock it will eventually grow large enough to be seen. I would love to have some of that also.
