    Need some help guys, I just did a water test on my 52 gal.
    Amm = 0 ppm
    Ph = 8.2
    Nitrates = 80 ppm
    Temp = 75 deg
    Salinity = 1.025
    Yes you read it right 80 ppm! What can I do to bring it down fast? My corals seem fine, as well as my fish, and my amm is dead nuts zero ppm....I dont get it.... Any help, thanks in advance!

    Water change with RODI salt water is the quick way.
    Get yourself a denitrator coil for long term solution, or set up a fuge.

    Bogie said it all. A fuge would be faster than a denitrator. A denitrator can take upto two months to cure. I have a denitrator myself and am setting up a fuge to handle the rest. I ride at 20 pretty consistant.

    well those nitrates are coming from somewhere...how often do you feed? you could cut down your feeding and it might help with the nitrates.

    as stated above going with a 'fuge or a denitrator (or both!!) could also fix the problem!!

    How often are you doing w/c's? With tap or RO water? What salt are you using?

    Water changes will always be the fastest and most effective way to remove NO3

    Happy reefing!

    I would also check your test kit. I have 3, and I do not get the same results from each one. ( ok, really 2 kits and 1 thing of "strips") I am ordering a better kit. One kit says I am at zero nitrates, one says ~ 20 and the strips say I am over 150.

    Not saying that you don't really have any nitrates, just to be cautious of "cheap test kits". I proved to myself that the kit really does matter.

    I was fraught with high nitrates as well. I did about 25% water change per week. Then I purchased a new API test kit. Remarkably the level went from 40+ to 5. Is your test kit old?

    I would recommend a high quality Salifert or Elos test kit. As others said, do a 50% WC for short term then concentrate long term...
