Has anyone recently order livestock from Petco online? How was your experience? Just want a quick review because I'm considering ordering from their online store

I've never ordered livestock from Petco, nor would I after seeing their conditions multiple times at several local stores (I will buy dry goods from them because they're now my closest LFS).

I have ordered from Live Aquaria multiple times with excellent results, and I only hear of positive experiences from others, as well. Check them out here:

Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums

They also have a "Diver's Den" section where you select what you want from a photo of the exact specimen, not just a representation.

I wouldn't order from them, just from what I've seen with their stores.

    +1 To Liveaquaria

One of the petco's in my area actually is fairly decent (at least when it comes to fish. Coral/Anemones not so much. I think it's a lighting issue).

That being said, I wouldn't order online from them. You have a lot better options out there. If they had some sort of "Free shipping to store" where your fish got shipped with the stores weekly shipments, then I might consider it. But if you're ordering online, I'd suggest going someplace else.

Or, even better, check and see if there are any mom and pop fish stores locally that might special order for you!

Some of the stores I have seen were decent but in don't know that I would risk an online order...

If you have ordered from Petco online, please feel free to offer an opinion. Please don't turn this into a Petco bashing thread or it will be closed. Thanks.

What's their policy like? The petcos near here are actually good - much better than the lfs. Only problem is that they don't have any kind of guarantee with saltwater fish, and the cooler expensive ones usually get bought before they've been in the store long enough for me to decide it's a fairly safe bet.

Also, petco online isn't going to be working through the stores at all so store conditions are pretty irrelevant imo.

I'd recommend that you place your order through your local Petco store. Then they can get the fish shipped in and you can see them before you decide whether or not you want to purchase them. I picked up a nice radiant wrasse this way for only 35 dollars. But on the other hand, many fish arrive unhealthy with torn fins.

But I can see them being mad if you don't like the first saying it looks unhealthy, and then they won't order another for you. Also I looked and online there's a 15 day guarantee, but in store you get none...
