I just added this scrubber last night and its already making a difference. pH used to go down 7.86ish during the night time, well, not any more!

ZEOvit additives and the scrubber media in the back

I've been gone for a while... man, you have really come a long way. Great looking tank. I'm not sure what you are doing schedule wise, but I will share what I thought was the single biggest improvements for my corals.

Lights OUT for 6 hours. I had my light schedule, and moon lights for viewing, but for at least 6 hours a night... total darkness. Corals responded immediately. You just think moon lights are low enough, but they need darkness... then go take a look... everything is out and extended and feeding. Now I never got far enough with LEDs and using moon phases with a controller... that might be cool, but I am still a firm believer in dark.

I also fed coral food before lights out, and turned the skimmer off for a couple hours to make sure they got some food. Then, I also put a power head in the sump. I would run it a couple hours a night with the skimmer off to stir up all the detritus to feed the coral. Clean sump, healthy coral.

Those made big changes to health, color, and growth. They just "looked" much fatter and happier. And I'm a night person and work rotating shifts. I had a ton of late night observation of my tank. But lights out and concentrated feeding was... well... night and day difference.

Excellent info Powerman. I think I will try cutting the moonlights out and give them more total darkness. It makes total sense.

    Shin-

I added a C02 scrubber to my tank a few weeks ago. My advice is to make sure you change the media before it expires or right as you see the ph start to fall. Mine is only lasting about a week.

Thanks Powerman for the great input!! (and no, i havent seen you for a while :))

My photo period is 10:15~21:00, which is Royal Blue and other coolwhites etc turn on later, so its more than 12 hours lights OUT a day.. So as soon as the dictyota outbreak gets taken care of, i will try to adjust the photoperiod accordingly (who doesnt enjoy more light right? its a win-win :D).

During the lights out, I try to keep the (living/dining) room as dark as possible, no ambient lights from the kitchen etc. I enjoy observing the tank during that time as well, mesmerized by the difference than the day time.

    In total agreement!
Thanks for the headsup Chris! This time, Im trying the CDX Two Little Fishies kind, but when it runs out im gonna take the bit cheaper route, the credit goes to Heihei29er. Im glad the inner canister of BRS Biopellet is being used for better purpose tho.

    That sounds great.

Obviously, I didn't feed a TON. I used Reef Chilli, refrigerated phyto and stuff like that. It was not an every night thing, and I would change up what I fed. Usually every other night, and sump every 2 or three days. But once you put everything in the controller, who cares? It's all automatic at that point.

For the skimmer I just had a 2 hour feed timer. So I would hit it if I was dosing and that took care of that. And I had a program for stirring up the sump that ran when ever. Easy peasy.

But that is the WHOLE point of LNS like this... you can feed a lot more. And you NEED to feed a lot more.... but you know that because your corals look great. ;)

Errrr.... why, why do I keep coming back here!!!! I need another tank.

I have a c2c beananimal overflow on a 75 i just bought and I have a couple questions i thought you might be able to help....

the open siphon drain...is the tube in the top just open to the air? it looks like you have it draped into the actual overflow. for the bulk heads...are yours thread to thread or slip and thread or what?

The tank i bought seems to not have an open siphon drain...don't know if that would be a problem or not...thanks man! -Curtis
