I have to say, I got a little sad at seeing this thread. Ash has been a big contributor to various threads and even showed off a sweet sweater at Christmas! To see him getting down on his expierience hurts a bit! I have been on this site for over a year researching everything from refugiums to led lighting trying to get it right from the begining. I love diving and wanted to bring a little of that every day. The tank is definitely for my enjoyment, my gf doesn't understand the time, money, or research involved, but at least she will appreciate the end result. Stick in there, Ash, I appreciate all the photos you post and you have helped me out on one of my questions or two!

I think you are over looking the important part, that you enjoy it! If its getting time consuming go for the ato and maybe do a a bigger water change every other week? I dunno just a thought but keep up the good work and don't give, up nobody likes a quitter;) Ur tank looks great anyways.

So if a water change is all you need to keep your stuff alive I just made this yesterday. The tank (20 Long) was only 40 bucks and it will supply enough water for 4 changes. I added a MaxiJet 1200, 150 watt heater & air stone. Oh and my stock BC pump to pump water into a bucket. :)

I'm at every 6 weeks...I'm thinking of pushing to 8 ...it always looks the best, just "before" a water change...go figure.:p

You really like my setup??!!! My LFS gave me crap about pre making saltwater. I hate having buckets out for days just to make water..

Back to the sub-subject of this thread...who cares what "they" think ? ! LOL ;D
...and yes, it looks like you think "outside" the box to make things work better for "you"...it must be the OCD in "me" ...but I dig it. : )8)

With Stewie and Brain keeping an eye on the salt water brewing! Nice!

Looks like a decent set up, I think the only danger of pre-mixing salt water for an extended period of time would be salt/minerals falling out of soultion and being lost due to that. :p
