I have been dosing with kalk in my top off water morning and again at night but the ph is staying around 7.8-7.9. Do you think a 2 part supplement like ESV B-Ionic would be better for a 46 gallon? I don't drip the kalk I simply pour in the 1/4 teaspoon mixed with the water. I want to keep the ALk higher and the ph higher with something simple. I read good reviews on the B-Ionic.
    Thanks,
    Adam

Be careful with kalk or any other element when dosing to raise your ph, Its VERY easy to OD, and that can cause hovac. I had the same problem as you for a long time until I found the problem. Long story short, My house is closed up 24/7, so the co2 levels are high. So what I did was to open a window 1"-2" near the tank and my ph levels are between 8.1-8.3, without adding the kalk or buffers to raise it.
Also, if you have pre-filter sponges, felt pads and filter socks in your system, that will definitely affect your ph as well. Been there, done that.
Hope this answers all of your Q's.
