So I'm getting my emt cert and have to say I'm impressed. I am trying to get on at the fire dept so I thought I would go ahead and get my certification now since the depts around here require an emt cert within a year of being hired. I am so excited about this class that if If I don't make it on the fire dept before I get my cert I will try for the ambulance service here or even volunteer. Never would have thought I would've like the medical career field as much as I have so far. Just wanted to share my excitement.

Awesome! I've been a firefighter for 10 years and 90% of what we do is medical related.

I did that about 10 years ago. Coolest job ever! It is incredibly hard to get on with a department, good luck to you! Start doing ride alongs and get to know the guys. My 2 cents

I know a few of them pretty good. This is the 3rd try for me but first with this dept. The chief is good friends with my grandfather too so hopefully that will help

Important thing to remember above all else. PUSH OXYGEN! When you do the practicals, and even the registry oxygen, oxygen OXYGEN! Dont be swayed or jedi mind tricked by other choices. Chest pains.... oxygen. cat fell out a tree.... oxygen. sounds silly but oxygen.

Congratulations, it's a great field. Very exciting.

At times it may seem like no one notices your efforts, but every once in while you will know you made the difference that improved someones life or outcome and that is reward enough.

    Good luck
