I would like to get some egg crate I will be adding a Fairy Wrasse. I would like something that is clear in color. Anyone know where I can get something that would work that is clear. I will stop at Michaels Arts & Crafts tonight. Would adding this prevent any of my light from coming through or make shadows in the water. I have a sunpod with 2 150 watt Halides. I once had a Wrasse but he never jumped but when I get one again I rater be on the safe side at first.
    Thanks,
    Adam

check lowes/home depot in the lighting section it's the same stuff you put on the bottom of fluorescent fixtures in a kitchen

Not saying that there isn't any clear egg crate but all I have ever seen it in is Silver, Black and white. Especially at Lowe's, Menard's and Home Depot.

Personally I would use white and cut out the part directly under my light and glue Some bird netting to it. The bird netting will not block the light as the Egg crate will.

    Bird netting

Won't the birdnetting though leave shadows also in the water?

No because the stuff I use is really thin, like a double thread. If it leaves a shadow it can't be seen unlike the light grid. There is some stuff out there thats made of clear fishing line but its EXPENSIVE and can only be bought in large quantities.

Well I suppose you could fabricate a frame of some sort. I just tied the net to the egg crate with really small wire ties.

the birdsnetting is a great idea...I have placed a eggcrate on one of my tanks adn the fish jumped through the opening (blue spotted jawfish) on the first night I had it.

Thanks for this post, I plan on a jawfish at some point. I'm concerned about heat of halide on anything covering the tank.
