Can buying coral and such on ebay be a wise investment or a waste. My LFS so far has earned a reputation of exploiting my inexperience, especially on pricing. i realize frequent fliers get a discount but this guy told me 130 and told the next guy 45...very frustrating. I wanna start stocking my tank but hate being taken advantage of

Although I have bought almost all of my equipment on ebay I have never purchased livestock online at all. Purchasing livestock without seeing it first makes me nervous. I guess I'm lucky enough to have about half a dozen lfs's in my area. I do read about a lot of members on here purchasing online with good results. I say give it a shot. You're already getting screwed at your lfs so what do you have to lose?

I agree. Go ahead. Many people on here have had good luck with purchasing online.

I know what you said, Jim wasn't meant to be funny, but the way you worded the last part made me laugh. :p

There are several sponsors on this site that have excelent reputations selling their livestock and corals via ebay auctions: reefpets, reef empire(evil reef), aqua SD, and Tritan's Garden are a few off the top of my head.

You can also search craigslist in and around your area, sometimes you can catch someone tearing their tank down and get some killer deals, plus you can see b4 you buy.
