I am very sorry for your hardships and losses. Saltwater is a very laborious hobby, but can be very rewarding if you have patience. I hope that you are not too discouraged to give up.

In joining 3reef you have made a great decision in finding a friendly environment to receive some very important and helpful advice. Although you may not agree with another's opinion/advice, please heed their warnings and most of all Read read read. Our site is full of wonderfully helpful information.

While some of the comments given to your may have sounded harsh, perhaps even a bit rude, it is not because the 3reefers wanted to bully you or make you feel as if you were wrong, they were simply trying to help you understand the possible outcome of your actions.

You had a very young tank and were excited to have the potential beauty a saltwater tank can posses in your grasp. I can assure you we have ALL been there and we have all made our mistakes. We can learn from our mistakes and see that in the future, through the harsh reality of those mistakes, we can make our own piece of the ocean in our own homes.

With that said I urge you to stick to it and please read up on this amazingly rewarding hobby and try to harbor your own miracle in your tank.
And please PLEASE refrain from ripping the extremities off of shrimp, or any other creature for that matter.

i rarely ever pot to a nother forum out of etiquette but well a starving tang and all:
    Reef Frontiers

feed more, herbivores shouldnt go nuts for food when you put it in, they should be able to eat at their leisure. Also some variety really helps, some foods like ulva for example have a good iron profile, some like gracilaria have a good protein profile etc... Lee Birch is brilliant, read the article when you can, hope it helps.

if i were you, i would drain all my water and keep my sand and rock in buckets where you can dry it out. if you keep all of your old stuff you could minimize your restart cost to less than $20. i dont know how to clean old sand but theres gotta be a way and im sure its easy.

Tangs are harder to keep, especially in a new system, but I believe your fish is starving. Mine will eat brine shrimp and flakes too. And at the risk of sounding rude, Since you went to the local mega fish mart and got some new additions, The next thing you should get is a decent test kit, you really need to know your parameters. Set your self up for a good outcome, not a huge disappointment....
