    What is this green thing?
    And what are these white things?
    Sorry for the bad pic. This rock is in the sandbed and pretty close to the glass. Moving it/scraping the glass is pretty difficult.

    the green is a type of algae not a bad one don't know the other?

    Yep, green one is a kind of calcareous algae, Neomeris. I'll have to defer to the experts on the white one.

    The green one is Neomeris Annulata, more commonly known as Caterpillar Weed. It's not a nuisance algae, so I would keep it.

    +1...not sure on the white stuff either. I have seen Neomeris get out of control a few times, but 99% of the time it does not. It is calcium based so as it grows it does deplete Ca levels a little bit.

    Hmm it does look like that.. An even though it says there that it is commonly mistaken for a sponge, I am going to have to go with the sponge answer after looking at it under a microscope. I can see the characteristic spicules of a sponge:
