I am starting to dose with B-ionic 2 part calcium buffer system. Its new to me and I have a couple of questions about dosing.

First I am trying to find out exactly how much water I have in my tank. I have a 72 Gallon Bowfront and 110 pounds of Live rock and 80 pounds of live sand.

How do i know how much water is in my aquarium.

The second question is how do you dose B-ionic. It says to use a staring dose of 1 ml per 4 gal. Then says never add more than 1 ml per 1 gal. Im confused.

    Thanks.

treat your tank as if its a 52 gallon tank for now

    you have options IMO

test your parameters Calcium and DKH
    add the B Ionic at 13mls ( because 52 divided by 4 = 13)
dose following instructions for 1 week
test again, see what new parameters are

And then either increase or decrease QTY or frequency of dosing to compensate for any drop or increase

    option 2

    test today without dosing anything
test again in 3 days time - having not dosed anything

this tells you how much calc and alk have been used over the 3 days

the product should tell you how much 1ml of fluid in 4 gallons will raise these levels

example if 1ml in 4 gallons raises the calc level by 12ppm
and your tank only used 18ppm calcium over 3 days
or 6ppm per day - then you would need to dose 1ml for every 8 gallons of water each day

    is that OK and understandable?
