In my 5 gallon nano im currently not doing any dosing. Im looking to keep a healthy mixed reef and was wondering if dosing is necessary if i do small water changes every day. I literally take one cup out and replace with one cup of fresh saltwater, made with reef crystals. I do this everyday. let me know any thoughts. Thanks.

testing will tell you for sure, but I suspect that would work fine. testing would tell you you need to do like 1.3 cups or something... who knows.

Look forward to your updates on that.

well i did some testing before i started the dailey water changes and everything was good. So then i got some frags from fall fest here. I got two zoa frags for 6 bucks and a rose acropoa millepora for 20 bucks. they have been in there for 5 weeks this weekend and the rose has colored up quite a bit and looks to be growing in fact. The zoas have colored up but no new heads are coming up. ( is that normal for the time frame that ive had them?) im at work so i cant tell you what my readings are for calc. etc.

I will throw some pics of my corals up on my build thread later tonight too. ( forgot to do it before)

all honesty that coral isn't consuming an equivalent amount of Ca, Mg as is in a cup of SW per day. I would think you could probably even do this less often. But again, testing will confirm.

zoas aren't using any. IME w/zoas, they'll grow not at all for a few weeks, explode in growth, not grow for a month, have another spurt, repeat... different zoas grow at different rates additionally.
