does my regal need to eat sea weed!

hello everyone

i have a regal tang which i am led to believe needs seaweed to feed on. problem is that it wont touch the stuff. ive tried every possible way of putting the stuf in for it with no luck.
does the regal need to eat this as part of a stable diet and if so how do i get it to eat the stuff.
its eating habits seem normal it will take anything else i throw in for it and has a very active swim all day. hmmm

 

They could do with vegetable matter in the diet - Nori or seaweed is the most natural but its not presented in a way the fish recognises it so they dont always respond to it
try adding some garlic extract as that can trigger feeding, also try other veggies, like lettuce scald it as it softens it and that might work , also broccoli may be taken, try alternative veggies and eventually it might respond

just keep putting a little in the tank every day. replace if it doesnt get eaten so it doesnt dissolve in the tank. like steve said its not that it doesnt like it, its that it doesnt know what it is yet. once it finally takes a bite it will crave it.

this is provided that its green or purple nori/seaweed for fish. they sell flavored and smoked kind in store for sushi fish dont like that kind. also they may not eat the red kind as its similar to dried tobacco in consistency. stay away from lettuce as it has almost no nutrition.

 

ive used broccoli before and my regal took to it.after that any green stuff that i put in he would go mad for.

 

How big is the regal? I ask because they don't just eat algae when they get bigger so you have to feed them meats as well. I prefer to use a flake food that has both meats and spirulina algae in it.
