I have an absolute infestation of stomatella snails that come out at night. They are literally everywhere in my tank. And I have also recently noted a decline in my pod population. I wonder if the two are related? Any thoughts?

Doubt it. See how fast a stomatella can move compared to a pod? They really aren't capable of chasing them. I doubt they are doing any harm. Do you have any pod eating fish?

They are both competing for the same food source....the phyto growing on your glass and rock. I guess the stomatella are winning.

Interesting....Any idea of how I can change that balance? I have a mandarin to support. Would you recommend I simply add more live phyto, or start trying to remove snails?

I would give some snails to fellow reefers or add more live phyto....whichever is easier.
