    I have that stuff on the bottom of my rocks too. Not sure what it is but it isn't spreading and doesn't seem to do any damage. I'd like to know what it is too.

    Foramniferans are hard to explain, I do not know really what they are but they look exactly like that IMO. heres a picture of some when my tank was cycling -

    NOT the pinapple sponges dead center :) and not the circular feather dusters, all of the little wavy tree looking things are different types or forams and what-not. Make sure to zoom in to get a better look at them.
