with a 29 gallon tank , your best staying under a total of 6 inches of fish, 1 inch of fish for every 5 gallons of water allowing for full grown sizes
so adding 3 or 4 more fish is going to put you over that stocking level
oxygen will be a problem with a stock level like that , thus making a skimmer critical IMO
which type of fish are you considering?

    I only have 4 fish in a 5ft x 18 x 18 tank

dont worry about it craft kid21
we where all new at one time

10% every two weeks is a good water change routine IMO so your spot on with the 3 gallons your doing

can I ask a personal question?
are you wanting to sell the skimmer in order to have funds to buy the fish?

because IMO if thats the case , adding that many additional fish is not a good idea anyway and adding them to a tank that lacks a skimmer is an even worse idea IMHO

keep the skimmer and add one maye 2 more fish in the future

I can relate to that totally
but IMO your good with what you got now

    the kingfish says
take it slow let it grow

what soft corals have you got, as you may be able to allow them to grow and frag them and those coral frags could be exchanged for other live stock with your LFS

thats a good mix of corals you have there Caft kid21

skimmer running part time - some people do this and it works out OK for them
Ive tried this and found whenever I stop and start my skimmer there is a period where it doesnt skim anything and it seems just when it starts producing foam it would be time to turn it off again

Im a 24/7 skimmer fan because of the above
