If I need to keep buying new bottles every time I change my GFO then it's not worth it. ;)

    That's a .99 cent investment every few weeks. ;)

I'm still in love with this idea.

    I bought my bottles today!

One Gator... bottle ~.89 per 32oz, and one Power.... bottle ~.79 per 32oz.

They have the same spoked wheel looking bottom to distribute the flow, but the bottles are different shapes up top.
the GA bottle has a slightly larger cap, and it more poited at the top.

MY PhosGuard I bought online should be here this coming week.

I'm going to run it off the MJ900 I've got running from the skimmer section of my DIY sump that pushes water thru my 18W CL Turbo UV and back into the cheato basket in the sump. Except now, it wil finish flow into the DIY PHosguard bottle, and empty into the sump.

I planned on posting a few pics of my DIY Phosguard bottle parts and finished product.

    Can't wait

I started my DIY Phosguard reactor today.

I have pics, but it keeps giving me an error when I try to upload the pics.

My phosguard came today and I washed it like it says first.
I trhought I did, but it still make my tank a bit coudy, whereas normally my DT is crystal clear.

I made sure a filter bag was on the return.

I think it's going to work well, have to wait and see if my cyano and algae, which weren't that bad decrease some.

The reactor seems to be working fine.

    Tested all my params today.

I have the API Reef Master test kit.
My Phos was more yellow than usual! - closer/or at Zero

The slight cloudiness cleared up just fine

I vacuumed most of the cyano out, and did a 10% water change in hopes of ridding my DT of the small amount of cyano I have.

Time will tell if really does work at lowering an already low PHosphate and Sillicate.

    DIY Phosphate Remover- UPdate 5/56/12...

It's been over 2 weeks with this on, and w/o a WC,
    my cyano is definitely regressing.

Now it is barely detectable! There is still some.

I have realized that when I don't have a filter sock/bag on my return, small detritus gets caught in my Chaeto in my large chaeto basket and that may be contributing to my undetectable Nitrates, and possibly phosphates.

So each night when my LPS are all opened up, I shake up the chaeto by hand and it releases a 'snow' of particles for them to eat, etc.

It's helping, all my corals and fish are loving it!

Very inexspensive, I already had the MJ powerhead, and the PHosguard was not too $ online, shipped to me in a 2L bottle.

    Go for it!

    Cyano is gone!

    I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    It is!

Like otheres, my params always tested 0 nitrate, 0 phosphates, yet I had some cyano on my finely CC gravel.

After a few weeks of my DIY phosguard reactor, no more cyano, bottom is clean/white again!
NOw I don't siphon the bottom anymore when I do a WC.

I didn't really do anything different so that I strongly feel the Cyano disappearance is from my DIY reactor.

My CC bed is oly about 1 inch deep average- on purpose.
I have plenty in the garage in a bucket!

Worked for me, it's long term, etc.
