Okay thanks for replying everyone. The silicone is seperating from the arcrylic and sticking to the glass. When I originally built the tank I sealed the joint with silicone. Been working great until I noticed the arcrylic pulling away from the glass due to pressures inside the tank compared to inside the overflow chamber. My overflow chambers run from bottom to top of the tank. Inside them are dursos and other water cleaning things. Kinda makes many fuges in each corner of my tank. I am doing everything I can to avoid a complete tear down. WE are talking over 200 gallons of water people. Will the putty create a water tite seal between the glass and arcrylic??

also what about making ur pipe tall with 3/8 holes drill a inch down from the top make it a emergency backup .......so the water only goes thru the top of pipe when need be

This is something similar to what I have considered at great length. While I might loose the overflow effect with water rushing in through the joints instead of only at the top of the tank I could raise the height of my dursos. Seems simple enough until you consider the amount of water I would have to add to the system to accomodate this. Not to mention my overflow chambers may be exposed to everything in the tank if the water levels go over the overflows.

ya I like the pipe idea that way you can also have your over flow full so it should not have pressure on the bottom. Man I feel for you with 200g like that. I learned the hard way about all this with a 90g system that I had dump water (my bad for being suborn and not really reading up) and that was some stress. I might think about trying to pull the acrylic out and replacing it with glass so that you can use a product that you know will stick to both things. How is the other overflow looking?

Well the overflow is "tearing" away from the glass a little at a time. My overflows are basically a square in each corner of the tank. I run powerheads with water filters inside each one and carbon etc. They are a great way to hide extra cleaning stuff which is why I designed them the way I did. But now a catastrophic failure is happening. Replacing them with glass is an option but again I would have to drain the tank in order to silicone them in place. I am going to cross my fingers on this putty.

BTW I dont think anybody has answered my question yet. Is this putty I bought water tight? Can I create a waterproof seal between the arcrylic and glass with this putty?

sorry I don't know with the putty, but I would assume it's about how you use it if it is anyway and that's why I suggested the glass. I was thinking that using the glass would make it easier to put the putty on in a way that might make a seal and you might have a chance of recreating the overflow in the tank with glass, but I don't know. I was just thinking that if you had a overflow out of the tank to work on you might be able to put the putty on it and then stick it to the tank. This way you could have the putty in between the glass, but I don't really know if that would help or not because I've never used putty, sorry. Good luck.
