Why are my 2 clowns digging a huge crater in the corner of the tank? I would have no problems with it, but they are stirring it up so much that sand is getting in some of my Corals and when I take a turkey baster in to it and blow the sand off the animals and away from them, the clowns seem defiant and put right back on :D

Not positive, but could it be possible they are fixing to breed? I've heard something about them doing that before breeding...

I thought they needed to have a host anemone before they would do that?

Not necessarily. Some clowns will never host anything & some clowns will settle for hosting something else in the tank...I had a buddy that his clowns mated by his powerhead.. then started hosting it.. crazy clowns... im no expert though... im just going off of what ive been told by some way more experienced hobbyist than me..

I am pretty sure a host anemone is not a necessity for breeding. Breeders usually have clowns in a tank with only a planting pot in it.

I have a Sebae Clown that is doing the same and she is a loner. That doesn't rule out breeding, but it's some food for thought.

They are persistent though! I would fill it in and they dig it right back out, I'll post a pic.

Yes! My tank is going through a stage! Red Slime and that is an Aptasia! I already dosed it once with AptasiaX, didn't work. Peppermint Shrimp are sucking to. Only 2 big ones that I have seen.

Ooohh! Their digging in 2 spots, in the corner and behind the rock, at least their keeping the sand nice and clean there :D

Mine do the same and they have a bubble tip available that they choose to ignore.

I had a recent Aptasia pop up and used a 1 cc syringe with 0.8 mls of lemon juice and injected it right into the Aptasia. It instantly shriviled up and was completly gone the next day. As for your clowns can't give you any input there!
